To Write Love On Her Arms

TWLOHA (to write love on her arms) is a non-profit organization that helps people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. They help people get into treatment and help them actually get something out of the right treatment.
"She has known such great pain; haunted dreams as a child, the near-constant presence of evil ever since. She has felt the touch of awful naked men, battled depression and addiction, and attempted suicide. Her arms remember razor blades, fifty scars that speak of self-inflicted wounds. Six hours after I meet her, she is feeling trapped, two groups of "friends" offering opposite ideas. Everyone is asleep. The sun is rising. She drinks long from a bottle of liquor, takes a razor blade from the table and locks herself in the bathroom. She cuts herself, using the blade to write "F*** UP" large across her left forearm".
People come to them with stories like these everyday. They want help and they don't know how to get it. This girls story is what started it all. Renee was 19 at the time and when she went to treatment facility they denied her of help because they said that she was too great a risk. So this church took her in, and started TWLOHA.
Through the help she got she found hope through God, and found light in her horrible past. Now she speaks to young people about her story and how she was helped. She encourages people dealing with depression or addiction or suicide to get help from TWLOHA and from God.
TWLOHA is an inspiration to me and i will always support them with donations and wearing my To Write Love on Her Arms shirts and bracelets. I've read some of the peoples survivor stories on Facebook and Myspace and i love seeing what other people get from TWLOHA. People that have gone and asked for help from them and actully took the treatment that TWLOHA offered. They are always so grateful and it is an amzing thing to see.
